BSN Meetings Activities - what's next?

The BSN committee has been busy organising future meetings and details of the Edinburgh 2009 meeting and the John Russell Festschrift are appended to this newsletter. Many thanks to Alison Douglas and Mike Ludwig for co-ordinating such an exciting programme. For our annual meeting in 2010 we go international, incorporating the BSN Annual Meeting into the 7th International Congress of Neuroendocrinology being held in Rouen. The BSN will make substantial efforts to subsidise registration and/or travel so that all classes of member can make the trip. For the Edinburgh meeting travel bursaries are available for Postgraduates and new Postdoctoral fellows - see the BSN website for details or contact Alison Douglas. In 2011 we return to an independent BSN Annual Meeting, venue to be decided.

The key dates for your diary are:

  • 28th- 30th June 2009: Annual Meeting of the BSN, University of Edinburgh
  • 1st July 2009 Festschrift for John Russell, University of Edinburgh
  • 11th-15th July 2010: Seventh International Congress of Neuroendocrinology, Rouen, France, see preliminary details at

In addition to hosting its own meetings, the BSN supports neuroendocrinology by contributing to funding symposia at other Society Meetings to increase the profile of neuroendocrinology, for example in the BES and BNA. I would be grateful for any suggestions for titles and speakers for neuroendocrine topics that you feel would benefit from exposure at those meetings. Also the BSN is keen to provide financial support for stand alone Neuroendocrine one day workshop meetings and any ideas for these are welcomed. Please email suggestions to I look forward to seeing you in Edinburgh.
