Broadening their network: News from the Pan-American Neuroendocrine Society (PANS)
PANS is a vital part of the global neuroendocrine community and holds Journal of Neuroendocrinology as its official journal. Here's a summary of their latest newsletter
The top priority in 2025 for PANS is to continue delivering valuable resources and activities for their members. PANS also aims to broaden its network by reaching out to labs and institutes with an interest in neuroendocrinology not yet familiar with PANS. PANS' new Vice Presidents, vital in broadening the PANS network, are:
- Mario Perello, Principal investigator, Argentine Research Council (CONICET), Director of the Multidisciplinary Institute of Cell Biology (IMBICE), Head of the Laboratory of Neurophysiology, IMBICE, La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina
- Renata Frazão, Associate Professor, University of São Paulo, Brazil
Recent PANS milestones in advancing the field of neuroendocrinology and fostering community engagement across the Americas include:
- PANS2024 Meeting in Santos, Brazil PANS hosted its first stand-alone, in person, meeting in Santos, Brazil, in May 2024 bringing cutting-edge neuroendocrine research to Latin America.
- Early Career Researchers' Symposium on Metabolism (virtual) featuring prominent speakers discussing the neuroendocrine control of metabolism.
- Inaugural Neena Schwartz Lecture Series - PANS Outstanding Women in Neuroendocrinology Lecture Series.
- PANS/BSN Joint Career Development Webinar focused on the transition from postdoc to principal investigator, offering valuable insights into negotiation strategies, academic career planning, and work-life balance. Rewatch the webinar.
