Dr Szilvia Vas wins 2026 Michael Harbuz Prize
The British Society for Neuroendocrinology (BSN) is delighted to announce Dr Szilvia Vas as the 2026 winner of the Michael Harbuz Prize. The Prize, in memory of Dr Michael Harbuz, recognises an outstanding member of the emerging generation of neuroendocrinologists at the BSN.
Dr Szilvia Vas is an in vivo neuroscientist interested in neurobiology of sleep and fertility with a special focus on the hypothalamus. She is currently a Research Associate at the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, University of Cambridge.
Upon receiving the prize, Dr Szilvia Vas said:
I am deeply honoured to receive the 2026 BSN Michael Harbuz Prize. This award is a tremendous encouragement for my research and motivates me to continue investigating the role of arcuate kisspeptin neurons in the central regulation of reproduction, particularly their interactions with the sleep–wake cycle.
As part of the prize, Dr Szilvia Vas will be giving a 30 minute lecture on her research at the Early Career Meeting, Neuroendo Celebrate 2026, in September 2026. As part of the prize, she will also receive the publication of an ‘Early Career Perspective’ article for the Journal of Neuroendocrinology, £750 prize money and 1-year free membership to the BSN.
