JNE honours Roger Guillemin, neuroendocrinologist and Nobel Prize winner
JNE has published an "In memoriam" article in honour of the life and work of neuroendocrinologist and Nobel Prize winner, Roger Guillemin. The article is Free Access and therefore available to read free of charge.
The article covers Roger Guillemin's life and career in neuroendocrinology recognising Guillemin as "not only a visionary, but also a remarkable talent-spotter who surrounded himself with the brightest scientists, many of whom have, in turn, become leaders in Neuroendocrinology."
In 1977, Roger Guillemin "received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, which he shared with Andrew Schally, for “their discoveries concerning the production of peptide hormones by the brain,” and with Rosalyn Yalow for “the development of radioimmunoassays for peptide hormones.” "
