New TCN Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Neuroendocrinology
The British Society for Neuroendocrinology (BSN) is delighted to announce that Professor Wouter W. de Herder (Erasmus MC & Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands) will succeed Professor Bob Millar as Editor-in-Chief of the Translational and Clinical Neuroendocrinology (TCN) strand of the Journal of Neuroendocrinology (JNE) from 1 January 2025. JNE is owned by the BSN and is the official journal of the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (ENETS). It is also the official journal of ENEA, PANS, IRPS, HNNA, and the INF.
Professor de Herder is currently Professor of Endocrine Oncology at the Erasmus MC / Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He is an accomplished scientist and has made significant contributions to the fields of clinical neuroendocrinology, general clinical endocrinology, radioligand therapy and history of endocrinology. His research is based on bench-to-bedside and bedside-to-bench approaches. He is co-founder and past chairman of ENETs, the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society.
Professor de Herder has been a Senior Editor of JNE since 2020, as well as a member of the BSN, and has been closely involved with the journal’s development. He will be working with the Editor-in-Chief of the Fundamental and Mechanistic (FMN) strand of the journal, Professor Mike Lehman, to further develop the journal’s role as the leading neuroendocrinology journal across the full breadth of the discipline.
Professor de Herder said:
“I am pleased and honoured to be taking over as the next Editor-in-Chief of the Translational and Clinical Neuroendocrinology (TCN) strand of the Journal of Neuroendocrinology. JNE plays an essential role in our field, as a vehicle for our research and supporting our early career researchers and clinicians.”
Professor Neil Evans, President of the BSN, said:
"We are extremely pleased that Professor de Herder has agreed to take on the role of Editor-in-Chief of the TCN strand of the Journal of Neuroendocrinology. We are confident that his collaboration with Professor Lehman will further enhance the journal and build on the success of Professor Millar’s editorship.”
Professor Tiensuu Janson, President of ENETS, confirmed that ENETS is very happy that Professor Wouter de Herder is taking up this task. As a former ENETS Chair, Executive Committee and Advisory Board member, it is wonderful to broaden and enrich this close collaboration and see how the visibility of neuroendocrine tumors will continue to increase in the journal.
Professor Millar said:
“It is my singular pleasure and privilege to have Wouter de Herder take over from me as Editor-in-Chief of the Translational and Clinical strand of the Journal of Neuroendocrinology. Wouter has worked with me as a senior editor for 15 years; first on Neuroendocrinology and more recently for JNE. During that long association Wouter displayed his extraordinary flair and breadth of knowledge of clinical neuroendocrinology and neuroendocrine oncology which position him to take forward these areas which we most recently developed in the journal. Under his stewardship I am confident the journal will continue to flourish and become the 'go to' journal in the field.”
